Cyclone Mocha
People affected by Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar and Bangladesh need your urgent support.
Rohingya refugees who fled violence in Myanmar at a staggering rate in 2017 are now facing another challenge: Cyclone Mocha.
Tens of thousands of displaced families in Myanmar, and refugees and host communities in Bangladesh are in need of emergency aid after Cyclone Mocha’s devastating landfall in the region. Shelters and other critical infrastructure have been flattened and community facilities wiped out, putting thousands at risk.
UNHCR teams are already hard at work, coordinating with relevant actors as they assess the damage and needs on the ground.
Extreme weather events such as Cyclone Mocha may have longer-term impacts for the more than one million refugees from Myanmar already in exile, hoping to return home. In Myanmar, the coming monsoon will make communities, especially those who are displaced, more vulnerable.
