Alphonso Davies' family was forced to leave everything behind in Liberia in search of safety in Ghana, where he was born in a refugee camp.

When he was five years old, his family was resettled in Canada. Together, they built a new life, and through hard work, perseverance, and determination, Alphonso achieved his dream of representing Canada on the world stage. Despite his success, he has never forgotten where he came from and believes he has a responsibility to represent refugees on a global stage. That is why Alphonso proudly supports UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, as a Goodwill Ambassador.
