The recent events in Syria have displaced almost one million people from areas including Aleppo, Hama, Homs and Idleb governate. For many families, this is not the first time they have been displaced — and now that winter deepens, they urgently need shelter and essential supplies to survive.

Families that are returning home are returning to destroyed homes and a country battered by nearly 14 years of war and economic crises. An estimated 90 per cent of the population lives in poverty and even before the latest escalation, 7.2 million people were internally displaced by conflict.
